Diane has fun as Eurydice in Orpheus in the Underworld – Palais de Beaux Arts Brussels

“Orpheus is popularly celebrated for one tune like Evita and equally wrongly so the performers made this clear with their fine treatment of choruses such as ‘Sleep on’ which had a Polynesian hypnotism to it. But having shown their respect they felt free to have fun and none more so than Diane Gray as Eurydice. Belting the top notes like an express coming through a station and seducing Jupiter on the way with equal impact, she is a true comedienne who showed that classically trained singing need not be accompanied by decorum.”
